Accurate Rotary Cutting – Linda Potter

If you struggle trying to cut with a rotary cutter, or if your straight strips end up looking like V’s or W’s, learn how to measure and cut strips, unusual shapes, and large pieces ACCURATELY with your rotary cutter, ruler, and mat.  Class Fee $20.

Have you been interested in learning how to make all those beautiful quilts you see everywhere?  Well, come join the fun and get off to a good solid start with a beginning quiltmaking class. Donna has been teaching beginning quiltmaking since 1982 and earned the title of National Quilting Association Certified Teacher (NQACT) in 1988.  While assembling a 4-block sampler quilt, you will master all the necessary skills to set you on your way in the world of quiltmaking.  You'll learn about special glossary terms and concepts, fibers, threads, supplies, fabric selection and preparation, basic hand piecing, accurate rotary cutting and machine piecing, quilt top assembly, battings, basting, basic quilting, binding, and last but  not least, the care of your completed quilt.  Although previous sewing experience is not required, please familiarize yourself and practice operating your machine before coming to class. Color Magic – Jenise Cantlon

Gain confidence with your color selection as you learn how an artist’s color wheel can easily help you pick a winning color scheme for your next quilt. In this class you will learn about color combinations utilizing the time-tested artist’s system of color harmonies.  The quilt you will be making is a six-block sampler, with each block representing a different color harmony. To help you build you blocks, you will have available hundreds of pre-cut 2½" squares of fabric that have been arranged in a gigantic color wheel for easy selection. This is a fun and informative class that will have you thinking about color combinations in a totally new way. Machine piecing experience is required.  Kit fee $27.  Class fee $40.

Master the basics of fusible machine appliqué and learn many valuable tips while creating this darling "wall quilt".   So, don't "bee" fearful - just come and have fun!  Machine piecing and rotary cutting experience required.  Pattern Fee $7.  Class Fee $20.

 

Fine Hand Quilting – Linda Potter

Would you like to create an Heirloom Quilt that can be handed down from one generation to the next, or would you just like to learn how to hand quilt or how to improve your hand quilting stitches.  If so, join Linda to perfect the art of Fine Hand Quilting.  While using pre-marked quilt squares, you will learn tips and tricks for developing and perfecting tiny little quilting stitches.  In addition, Linda will cover basting for hand quilting, quilt marking, and the basics of choosing thimbles, threads, and batting.  Class Fee $35.

 

Invisible Machine Appliqué – Kelly Ashton

Everyone loves the look of fine hand appliqué, but many of us don't have the time or the patience to invest.  Well, you don't have to abandon the "hand-appliqué look" - we'll just do it by machine!  This technique can be adapted to almost any hand or fusible appliqué pattern.  It's fairly fast, and loads of fun!  Come and give it a try!  A good working knowledge of your sewing machine is required.  Class Fee $35.

Machine Quilting Basics – Kelly Ashton

Do you love to piece tops but can't seem to find the time to get the hand quilting done?  Then, this is the class for you!  Kelly will teach you the basics of straight line and free-motion machine quilting so you can finish your tops in no time!  Kit Fee $7.50.  Class Fee $35.

 

Machine Quilting:  Beyond the Basics – Karen Hansen

Have you learned the basics of machine quilting, but just can’t get started.  How do you get that big quilt under that little sewing machine!?  Karen will show you how, plus how to pick designs, choose marking tools, use non-marking techniques, where to start (hint: not in the middle), plus many more tips to get you plowing through that pile of UFOs.  Some machine quilting experience required.  Class Fee $40.

 

Needle Magic: Quilt & Embellish in One Step! – Linda Potter

Join Linda to learn the art of Needle Magic.  This innovative technique offers quiltmakers an alternative quilting technique.  If desired quiltmakers can also combine quilting with embroidery, beading, and Sashiko, as they Quilt & Embellish in One Step!  During this technique workshop, you will create a stitching sampler while you learn a variety of stitching, beading, and embellishing techniques, explore the importance of thread color selection to enhance your quilts, and study the supplies, patterns, fabrics, and quilt designs suitable for quilts using this technique.  Class Fee $25.

 

Picture Perfect Binding – Linda Potter

Are you frustrated with the look of your quilt bindings?  If so, learn the basics of simple French double-fold binding with mitered seams and corners for picture perfect award winning binding every time.  The ability to cut with a rotary cutter and sewing machine experience is required.  Class Fee $20.
