Beginning Hand Appliqué – Kathy Delaney Session #1 – Sat., Sept.18, Oct. 9, & 30 – 10:00-12:30 Session #2 – Tues., Sept. 21, Oct. 5 and 19 – 10:00-12:30 Kathy will share with you her most favorite techniques, her slickest tricks and offer plenty of easy and useful tips for hand appliqué. This 3-part class gives you plenty of opportunity to practice what Kathy teaches. The wall-quilt project can end up as a pillow or the center medallion of a quilt. Beginning Embroidery – Judy Oberkrom Mon., Sept. 13 – 6:00-8:30 Have you often wished you knew how to embroider? Have you admired those wonderful quilts done in redwork, bluework, and black work? If you have, join Judy to learn a variety of basic embroidery stitches useful for creating a myriad of projects. Kit Fee $3. Class fee $20.
Beginning Quilt Making – Ilyse Moore Session #1 – Mon. Oct 4, 11, 18, Nov. 1 & 8 – 6:00-8:30 Session #2 – Thurs., Oct 7, 14, 21, Nov 4 & 11 – 12:00-2:30 Are you ready to start a new, fun and rewarding hobby? Beginning quiltmaking is just the class to get you started. We will be making a sampler table topper or runner. You will learn about fabric selection, accurate rotary cutting, machine piecing, quilt top assembly, basting, and binding techniques. Although previous sewing experience is not required, please familiarize yourself and practice operating your machine before coming to class. Class Fee $60.
Binding Basics – Ilyse Moore Wed., Dec. 1 – 6:00-8:30 Whether you are a beginning quilt maker or seasoned quilter, join Ilyse to learn the basics of simple French double-fold binding with mitered seams and corners. Color Magic – Jenise Cantlon Sat., Nov. 6 – 10:00-3:30 Gain confidence with your color selection as you learn how an artist’s color wheel can easily help you pick a winning color scheme for your next quilt. In this class you will learn about color combinations utilizing the time-tested artist’s system of color harmonies. The quilt you will be making is a six-block sampler, with each block representing a different color harmony. To help you build you blocks, you will have available hundreds of pre-cut 2½" squares of fabric that have been arranged in a gigantic color wheel for easy selection. This is a fun and informative class that will have you thinking about color combinations in a totally new way. Machine piecing experience is required. Kit fee $27. Class fee $40.
Decorative Machine Appliqué – Kelly Ashton Sat., Oct. 9 – 1:00-3:30 Master the basics of fusible machine appliqué and learn many valuable tips while creating this darling "wall quilt". So, don't "bee" fearful - just come and have fun! Machine piecing and rotary cutting experience required. Pattern Fee $7. Class Fee $20.
Fine Hand Quilting – Linda Potter Sun., Nov. 7 – 1:00-5:00 Would you like to create an Heirloom Quilt that can be handed down from one generation to the next, or would you just like to learn how to hand quilt or how to improve your hand quilting stitches? If so, join Linda to perfect the art of Fine Hand Quilting. While using pre-marked quilt squares, you will learn tips and tricks for developing and perfecting tiny little quilting stitches. In addition, Linda will cover basting for hand quilting, quilt marking, and the basics of choosing thimbles, threads, and batting. Class Fee $35.
Introduction to Hand Piecing: Simple Stars – Donna Thomas Sun., Oct. 3 – 1:00-5:00 Learn the lost art of simple hand piecing. The simple star block is a lovely old block that can be colored to create all kinds of designs. Stop by and look at the two samples in the shop--you'll find it hard to believe the quilts are made from the same block. These blocks make up into a nice table runner as well. With only 8 pieces in a block, they go together quickly. Come rediscover the pleasure in the process of hand piecing! Class Fee $35.
Invisible Machine Appliqué (A Pizza Party) – Kelly Ashton Fri., Oct., 15 – 6:00-10:00 Everyone loves the look of fine hand appliqué, but many of us don't have the time or the patience to invest. Well, you don't have to abandon the "hand-appliqué look" - we'll just do it by machine! This technique can be adapted to almost any hand or fusible appliqué pattern. It's fairly fast, and loads of fun! Come and give it a try! A good working knowledge of your sewing machine is required. Pizza Fee $4.50. Class Fee $35.
Machine Quilting Basics – Kelly Ashton Session #1 – Tues., Nov. 9 – 10:00-3:30 Session #2 – Sat., Nov. 13 – 10:00-3:30 Do you love to piece tops but can't seem to find the time to get the hand quilting done? Then, this is the class for you! Kelly will teach you the basics of straight line and free-motion machine quilting so you can finish your tops in no time! Machine Quilting Beyond the Basics – Karen Hansen Sat., Dec. 4 – 10:00-3:30 Have you learned the basics of machine quilting, but just can’t get started. How do you get that big quilt under that little sewing machine!? Karen will show you how, plus how to pick designs, choose marking tools, use non-marking techniques, where to start (hint: not in the middle), plus many more tips to get you plowing through that pile of UFOs. Some machine quilting experience is required. Please Note: No basic machine quilting instruction will be given in this class. Class Fee $40.
