Birds n’ Urns – Kathy Delaney Mon., June 22, July 27, Aug. 24 – 6:00-8:30 Join Kathy once a month as she guides you in stitching this delightful quilt. While the Birds n' Urns patterns are appliqué, they are derived from a series quilt from 1931. Besides giving you tips on the techniques used in making these blocks, Kathy will give you the original patterns as they appeared in 1931 (only available in class). You may wish to work with kits provided by Prairie Point or choose your own fabrics. Appliqué experience required. Class Fee $50.
Mon., June 29 & July 20 – 6:00-8:30 You have to see it to believe how simple it is to create these charming old time favorite quilts.This technique uses both your machine to prepare your pieces and hand work to finish...a great take along project. Learn to make the cathedral windows block and get some great ideas on how to put them together in a variety of ways. Class Fee $40.
Dyeing in the Parking Lot – Kelly Ashton Sun., Aug. 30 – 1:00-5:00
Have you ever drooled over the richness of hand-dyed fabric and wondered how those fabulous gradations or multi-colored pieces were created. If you have, join Kelly as she guides you through the steps to create your own masterpieces. Fabric dyeing is fun, it’s colorful, and beware its addictive! No prior experience necessary. Kit Fee $40. (This kit includes all dyes, materials and 3 yards of high quality 58"20wide fabric. Additional fabric kits including 1 1/2 yards of 58" wide fabric may be purchased at the time of class for $17.50 each.) Easy Trapunto – Kathy Delaney Sun., July 12 – 1:00-5:00 Now that you've got experience quilting, how would you like to add some dimension? Join Kathy as she shows you a really easy way to add trapunto to your quilt for added visual interest. This is a handwork class, but Kathy will share with you a machine method, too. Class Fee $35.
Fraternal Twins© – Kelly AshtonSat., July 18 – 10:00-3:30 Fraternal twins can be very similar or quite different, but they both originate from the same “parents”. Well, the same is true for Fraternal Twins© quilts! Two quilts originate from the same “parent fabric” (that is, the same fabric line), they have design similarities, but each quilt is unique. Kelly has designed several “Fraternal Twins©” quilt pairs, and this class features the first set! Fraternal Twins© classes may be taken alone (and you’ll have two quilts for yourself) or you can enjoy the class with a friend (and you’ll each end up with one quilt) – your choice!!! Sign as a pair and receive a class discount. This can easily be completed by a confident beginner with machine piecing & rotary cutting experience. Copy fee $5. each. Sat., July 11 – 10:00-3:30 Learn how to hand or machine piece these beautiful blocks using templates. These two blocks are examples of old beauties that don’ lend themselves to rotary cutting. By learning how to make and use templates you will open yourself up to a whole new world of forgotten blocks. The construction process is simple enough and very pleasant when done by hand but it is equally achievable by machine. Both methods of sewing will be taught. The old becomes new again. Class Fee $40.
Going Green in any Color – Ilyse Moore Sun., June 14 – 1:00-5:00 REDUCE your stash, REUSE orphan quilt blocks, RECYLE old clothing, and if you need to, BUY more fabric. Make a shopping bag in an afternoon using Ilyse's pattern. It will be ready to use on your next trip the grocery store, the mall or the quilt shop. This is great class for beginners. Love those quilts that are set on point but don’t like dealing with setting triangles? Now there is a pattern that begins with straight set rows and ends with a beautiful quilt set on point. Sound impossible? It’s not. Learn how to create a quilt using one of the patterns from the Straight To The Point Series. This class is designed for the confident beginner to the advanced quilter who wants to learn a new technique. The sample in the classroom is the wall size but you can choose from wall, baby, lap or twin size to complete your very own heart quilt. Machine piecing & rotary cutting experience required. Kansas Sunflowers in 3-D - Karen Hansen Sat., June 13 – 10:00-3:30Whoever said quilts had to be flat? Three-dimensional embellishments add a special flair to this 28” x 28” wall hanging, a basketful of Kansas wildflowers. In this class you will learn ruching, folding and bonding techniques that are easy and fun. Assembly by machine will be taught; however, it also can all be done by hand, if needlework is your forte. Russian Punch Needle Embroidery – Nancy Nunn Wed., July 29 – 6:00-8:30 This centuries old needle art creates stunningly beautiful pieces with a richness of texture and color and can be created in only a few hours with relatively few supplies. Class Fee $20.
Session #2 – Tues., July 28 – 10:00-12:30 This quilt is easy, so come to class and see just how fun this is, and the options you have with the old fashioned design. It’s a great way to use up scraps, or draw from your stash. Machine piecing & rotary cutting experience required. Class Fee $20.
